Marttiini

The first Marttiini knives were designed in 1928 and since then our experience in production, professional skills and firm handicraft traditions have been refined for generations. Today, our time-honoured skills and craftsmanship combine with carefully chosen materials, contemporary technology, computer-aided design and efficient serial production.

Stylish design is important to us and our customers and features in all our planning and production, so each Marttiini tool becomes a proud possessions that when correctly maintained will last a lifetime.

The Marttiini knife factory has a long tradition in combining handicraft skills and practical needs. A knife has always been an important means of survival in harsh conditions for people in the arctic region. Knives were a necessity in collecting firewood and making a fire, making tools and implements, construction, hunting, fishing and preparing a catch for cooking and eating.

Nobody left home without a knife. Many wanderers were saved by the knife on their belt.

Knife handling was learned at an early age. Knives were produced for men, women and minors so that the knives would suite the user's size, strength and purpose of use. Knives for festive occasions worn alongside Sunday-best clothing were equipped with nicely decorated sheaths, handles and ferrules.

Times and technologies have changed since then but you can be sure that every Marttiini tool made today has been designed and crafted to be as true-to-purpose, beautiful and practical as they always have been.
